News Flash: Zoom is rebranding and transforming from a video conferencing platform to a workspace platform. Zoom is now Zoom Workplace for its desktop app.

Now, acting as a personal assistant to streamline workflow and boost productivity, Zoom AI Companion 2.0 is an integrated AI assistant within the Zoom Workplace platform.

There are plenty of alternatives to Zoom, depending on what you need from your video conferencing app. I highlight three of them here.

Zoom AI Companion 2.0 is your smart AI assistant. It's part of the Zoom Workplace platform. Easily access post-meeting summaries and share them effortlessly with others through Team Chats or emails. Personalize message tone, length, and content preferences for chats and emails. Brainstorm and organize ideas on a whiteboard or a Zoom doc.

Zoom Workplace's AI features include the AI Companion, a built-in assistant that helps with productivity and collaboration. It can:
• Generate summaries and emails
• Draft chat messages
• Spark new ideas on whiteboards
• Assist with pre-meeting preparation by surfacing content about projects and providing status updates
• Handle routine aspects like note-taking and follow-ups
• Help draft messages by analyzing the context of your conversation

Free with the paid Pro and Business plans, starting at $13.32/month/user, billed annually.

There are now 11 add-ons (down from 13 last year) offering enhanced whiteboards, scheduling pages, Zoom Docs—and much more. Each of these comes with its own monthly price tag, ranging from $2.49 on the low end to $100 on the higher end.

Google Meet

Anyone with a Google account can create a video meeting for up to one hour with up to 100 participants. A good choice for Google Workspace users. A popular free Zoom alternative, especially for smaller groups and individuals who need a user-friendly conferencing solution. And if your company is already paying for Google Workspace, it's essentially free.

Meet seamlessly integrates with other Google apps, making it easy to do things like schedule meetings with a Google Meet link in Google Calendar and share files stored in Google Drive directly from a Meet call.

It allows easy transitions between Calendar, Drive, and Gmail, making it a natural choice for those already embedded in Google's orbit. A simple, user-friendly, and accessible conferencing solution for smaller groups.

Gemini Business is an AI-powered assistant for teams of all sizes, built into the apps you know and love, including Meet. It is an add-on to an existing Workspace plan.

Plans start from $6/month/user, annually, as part of Google Workspace Business Starter. Gemini Business is $20 per user/month, annually. Gemini Enterprise add-on starts at $28/user/month.

Microsoft Teams

Integrates with Microsoft Office 365. Extensive collaboration features, including robust chat, screen share, whiteboard, action item lists, and live document collaboration.

Similar offering to Zoom, but only available to users with a Microsoft Copilot license.

If, as a company, you're using Microsoft 365, collaborating live on documents through Teams is totally seamless, too. Because (unsurprisingly) Teams integrates with programs like Word, Excel Live, and PowerPoint Live, multiple people can collaborate on a spreadsheet or document live on a call, and it will update in real-time for everyone.

Paid plans start at $4/user/month, annually, for just Teams and from $6/user/month for Microsoft 365 Business basic, which includes Teams.

Copilot Pro Business starts at an additional $30/user/month. To use Teams' AI features, you need to pay for a Copilot license, which is an extra $30/user/month.

GoToMeeting

Offers easy recording and a meeting transcript is available. Users on at least a Business plan get access to unlimited cloud storage. Video conference features include chat, Q&A, an AI meeting assistant, and security controls.

When you subscribe to at least the Business plan ($19/month) on GoTo Meeting, all your meetings will be saved to the cloud. GoTo Meeting will transcribe the audio, letting you search for the exact part of the meeting you're looking for.

It's also possible to see stats, like who talked and for how long, and you can download or share that meeting with anyone.

Free plan includes 49-minute meetings with up to 3 participants.

Paid plans start at $14/mo/organizer and include up to 250 participants, unlimited cloud recording, and Smart Meeting Assistant.
