Hello and welcome back to the newsletter. This month I'll highlight digital design tools that can help you achieve your goals without having to pay for a graphic designer. Whether it's images for social media, icons for your website or creating brand imagery, I've got you covered. (Also, as a bonus,
I've included a great tool for sharing your computer screen with collaborators.)
Digital Design Made Easy
Canva is a free graphic and design tool that uses a simple drag-and-drop designer interface for anyone who finds Adobe Photoshop or Gimp too difficult to use.
Loaded with free stock images and fonts, Canva also includes 50,000 free ready-to-use templates for Instagram posts, Facebook covers, business cards and more.
Upload your own images or use one from the free library, and when you're done you can download or share your work.
If you need more flexibility resizing your images or want access to millions of more images and thousands of fonts, you can upgrade to Canvas Pro for $9.95 per month.
Find The Perfect Icon
Trying to find the perfect icon for your design project? Check out IconFinder, the largest icon search engine.
IconFinder offers a wide range of icon sizes and icons are available for download in either PNG or SVG format. Use the Icon Editor feature to edit your favorite icons by changing colors, add/remove text, or remove unwanted elements.
Browse for individual icons, entire icon sets or icons created by popular designers. Filter by free or paid content. Pay as you go or signup for Icon Finder Pro starting at 10 downloads/month for $4.50
Your Brand Everywhere
Placeit is a website that provides mockups of your brand image or logo on products in real-world settings.
Just upload your image file and PlaceIt will show you a wide range of mockups featuring your image. There are hundreds of types of mockups you can create, including showing your image on mugs, t-shirts, computer monitors, iPhones and more.
Single mockup images start at $7.95 per image, and unlimited download subscriptions start at $14.95 per month. You should compare this price with the cost of paying a designer to create a mockup for you using Photoshop.
Capture That Screen
Lightshot is a free, easy to use app for taking a screengrab of your computer screen.
While there are keyboard short cuts that allow you to copy and paste an image of your screen into an image editor, Lightshot skips the need for an image editor. With LightShot you select which part of your screen you want to capture, and you can annotate the image before you save it.
Also, Ligtshot lets you share your screengrab on social media and do a Google search to find similar images based on your image. Lightshot is available for Windows/Mac, Chrome, Firefox, IE & Opera.
We'll help you make the most out of your ad budget.
