Over the past few months, I've been presenting seminars at Staples Connect and creating video presentations and podcasts for their social media pages. These seminars, videos, and podcasts cover topics related to digital marketing and website technologies.
In the latest "Staples Spotlight" podcast of mine, I discuss Wordpress with Julie Kramer, a Community Manager at Staples Connect.
In the podcast, I discuss technologies, companies, and services related to Wordpress and I've highlighted some of those below.
Divi
Divi is my favorite page builder for Wordpress. There are a large number of compatible themes to choose from and they look good on desktop and mobile devices (responsive). Unfortunately, Divi is a bit of a resource hog. So if you want to build a big website that won't slow down, you might skip the page builders altogether.
Wix
This popular do it yourself builder is easy to use, but it lacks the range of free plugins and themes available for Wordpress. Also, it lacks features critical for SEO, and you can't transfer your website to a different service.
SiteGround
SiteGround is a highly rated website hosting company that offers exceptional customer support at a low cost. SiteGround is a favorite in the Wordpress community.
cPanel
This excellent suite of tools is available to almost anyone who buys an entry-level hosting plan. Keep in mind, if you go with "Wordpress Managed" hosting, you won't have to install Wordpress, but you also won't get cPanel.
ThemeForest
ThemeForest is a Wordpress theme marketplace offering over 100,000 premium themes to choose from. Before you purchase a theme make sure it is compatible with the latest version of Wordpress.
99 Designs
If you'd prefer a custom theme for your Wordpress website (as opposed to buying a theme on ThemeForest), then check out 99 designs and have a designer build you something unique.
Shutter Stock
Are you looking for great images for your website? Go where the professionals go. Shutterstock is a great resource but keep in mind that it can get expensive.
Yoast
The Yoast SEO plugin is a must-have if you run a Wordpress website. The free plugin allows for customization of on-page metadata, SEO suggestions, and readability analysis.
