Choices include uploading product info to a third-party website or building a beautiful new e-commerce site or adding a shopping cart to your existing website. In any case, selecting the best apps will help you accomplish your goals faster and with less frustration.

Shopify

With the included drag-and-drop store builder, creating a basic mobile-friendly e-commerce website with Shopify is easy. But if you want to do a lot of customization to your website, you might need to hire an expert. Shopify also has a mobile app for tracking your store and a POS feature so you can track all of your sales in one place. Plans start at $29/mo with a 2.9% fee on credit card purchases.

WooCommerce

WooCommerce is free, open-source software that is used with WordPress websites. There's no subscription fee like Shopify, but you'll still need to pay for web hosting and a domain name.

Building a Wordpress website using the WooCommerce plugin is my favorite option for an e-commerce website. WooCommerce offers a huge number of ways to customize your store and how you sell your products by using extensions from companies like Paypal, Stripe, MailChimp, LiveChat, and more.

Squarespace

Squarespace is a leading DIY website builder originally built for bloggers but added e-commerce functionality in 2013. It has fewer e-commerce tools, but it is less expensive than Shopify with plans that include e-commerce starting at $18.

eBay

eBay was one of the first e-commerce sites on the Internet and it's still going strong. It's easy to quickly set up a merchant account and start selling your products, but actually getting traffic to your business page might be challenging. Also, there is lots of competition on the website, and there are expensive fees on what you sell.

Magento

Magento is a free e-commerce platform for medium to large online stores that is complex and more geared to web developers. Magento uses themes and plugins, but they can get quite expensive. Also, Magento requires special web hosting that can meet its requirements.
